The career as a soloist and her contribution to chamber music inspired Lisa Smirnova to found an ensemble that would allow her to integrate both her passions. In 2008 the idea became true with the help of colleagues she had known and worked with for many years. The ensemble's repertoire is based on piano concertos by J.S. Bach, J. Haydn and W.A. Mozart, which are highlights of Smirnova's Repertoire. These are performed in a small formation and combined with chamber music from various époques, including commissioned works. The musicians take pride in their preciseness, homogeneity, and authenticity but they are also eager to give leeway for creativity, improvisation and liveliness.

Andres Mustonen, co-founder of the New Classic Ensemble, was born in Talinn, Estonia in 1953. In addition to being named among Estonia's finest musicians, Mustonen has also gained international acclaim in his capacity as a baroque violinist, conductor, and as the head of the Estonian Consortium for Old Music, "Hortus Musicus". Furthermore, he has initiated and inspired numerous festivals and concert cycles.
While on tour he has had the opportunity to perform in some of the world's most famous concert halls. In recent years he has been invited to work as a guest conductor with such renowned orchestras as the Bavarian Broadcasting Symphonic Orchestra, the Finnish Radio Symphonic Orchestra and the St. Petersburg Philharmonics. »
